Way back in the beginning of 2011 I was contacted by Kate about taking photos of her private wedding at the Nam Hai Resort in Hoi An, Vietnam.
We talk a bit, she showed me the style of wedding photos she likes, we talked some more and made some plans and then a lot of time passed. It was great to finally meet Kate and Nick after only talking via email and they were really easy going and fun to work with. When I first got this assignment I was really excited, I have always wanted to shoot a wedding and engagement photos in Hoi An. The colors and textures of this historic village are amazing and I started to think about what I could do. One thing I wanted to try out was to shoot individual portraits that would be intentionally put together on opposite pages in a book so as they look like they are 1 photo. I think they turned out pretty dam cool if I do say so myself(look below) and was happy Kate an Nick totally let me do my thing. In total we spent an 1 1/2 hours in Hoi An shooting engagement photos and another 30 min at the Nam Hai. The whole day was very easy going, totally not stressful and a ton of fun. I’m so happy to have met Nick & Kate I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to shoot for my first wedding shoot in Hoi An, Vietnam
